Best master bath in a custom home

The master bath that's been added on to this 1928 Tudor Revival in Denver is a study in contrasts (or, in the words of architect Doug Walters, “an exercise in solid-void relationships”). The husband's vanity, made from a strong, dark wood, projects out at the sink. The wife's vanity, fashioned from painted white wood with beadboard details, recedes at the sink. The triangular shape above the husband's sink is a half-dormer that matches the home's original dormers. Walters took advantage of the vast attic space provided by the Tudor roof to sculpt a north-facing symmetrical skylight shaft that offers a gentle blue light all year round.

“It's been a star-kissed project,” says Walters. “Everybody likes it.”
