Designed for comfortable livability, this efficient plan was created for a single, cost-conscious client who works from home. The 1,449-square-foot river cottage features a broad front porch and a large screened back porch that doubles as a workspace and opens onto an inviting rear courtyard.

Local vendors supplied the finishes, ­accessories, furniture and cabinetry for this low-country–style residence in the TND of Habersham, rendering it both authentic and economical. The homeowner, whom architect Dominick Tringali describes as “very budget-driven,” was content with a detached, one-car carport designed in the same vernacular as the porch.
