By BUILDER Magazine Staff. In Palmerton, Pa., the Carbon Builders Association (CBA) helped revitalize the second annual Carbon County Lion/Lioness Fair by serving as a fair sponsor and donating $3,000 to the 4-H Livestock Club.

The 4-H Club donation boosted top prizes from $3 to more than $25 per winner. "Winning a few dollars for all the hard work involved in raising and showing livestock just doesn't seem right," said CBA president Gary Kistler. "The kids have a tremendous work ethic and a sense of responsibility, these kids are our future tradespeople and some of them may one day choose to be home builders. We want them to know that their hard work will pay off."

Helped by the Carbon Builders Association in Palmerton, Pa., prize-winning 4-H animals take home larger cash prizes from a local fair.

The original fair shut down in 1992. The new fair, held August 15-19, is a collective effort of the 11 area Lions and Lioness clubs. Last year, the CBA donated excavation, surveying services, materials, and labor to build new stands and buildings. Visit
